Private Lessons

Will offers private lessons to students of all ages in his saxophone studio, The Woodshed, in Atlanta, GA. The studio is fully equipped with teaching tools and materials, including a piano, keyboards,  drums, computers, and shelves full of music and records.  The walls are covered with album covers and show posters, offering inspiration and a creative vibe.  Just minutes from downtown Decatur, Little 5 Points, and I-20, the studio is located in the heart of the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta. Parents can go enjoy the library or a coffee shop just one block away or a playground for siblings just two blocks away. If parents choose to wait with their child, there is a sitting area and restroom in the studio as well.

Will has been a staff member of the Chicago Joe’s Rock N’ Blues Camp for 3 years and currently runs a small, private teaching studio of about 10 students.  He has been playing saxophone for 23 years.   He holds a B.A. in Music with Highest Honors in Jazz Performance from Emory University, where he was the first student ever to receive Honors in Jazz Performance.  He also earned a Master’s of Music in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University in 2006.

Clinics

Will is available for clinics and guest performances at middle schools, high schools, colleges, and music stores.  Clinic topics include jazz improvisation, jazz theory, listening, and music business.  Grants for certain educational clinics may be available through Will’s affiliation with Jupiter Saxophones.  For booking information please contact will@willscruggs.com.  More information coming soon!
