The Woodshed Saxophone Studio

Will Scruggs offers private lessons on saxophone and jazz theory at his personal studio, located in Kirkwood (ATL), or remotely via Skype. Will has a B.A. in Music with Highest Honors from Emory University and a Master’s of Music in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University. He also has over 20 years of experience as a working musician and recording artist, with credits including Natalie Cole, Dave Brubeck, The Wood Brothers, The Belgium Chamber Orchestra, Dallas Austin, Jermaine Dupri, Belle & Sebastian, Puddles the Clown, and Perpetual Groove.

Will opened the Woodshed in 2008 to provide lessons with a focus on saxophone technique and improvisation for both youth and adults He has placed students in GMEA All-State Bands as well as the Rialto Youth Jazz Orchestra at GSU, an All-Star Big Band featuring the top high school players in the Metro Atlanta area.

Woodshed All-Stars

The first Woodshed Graduate to pursue music as a career was Cole Stone-Frisinia, one of Will’s earliest students. Cole went on to graduate from the New School in New York City, where he now lives as a working, touring saxophonist. His first SOLO Record, “Fish Gotta Have It,” was released in 2022.
